Fairfax City, VA – Residents and visitors of The Moxley Apartments may notice a new mural adorning the side of the building. Renowned muralists Mike Pacheco and Rodrigo Pradel collaborated on this visually striking masterpiece, which promises to leave an indelible mark on the community. This captivating art piece, a testament to the city’s rich history and dynamic future, is the result of a generous grant awarded to Spotlight on the Arts in partnership with the Fairfax City Economic Development Authority (EDA) by the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC).

“We are immensely grateful to the Virginia Tourism Corporation for their generous grant which allowed us to bring this awe-inspiring mural to life. Mike Pacheco and Rodrigo Pradel have truly captured the spirit of Fairfax City, celebrating our unique history while embracing the limitless possibilities of our future. The mural’s creation is a testament to our city’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and engaging environment for residents and visitors alike.” said Christopher Bruno, Fairfax City Economic Development Director.

“Our art at The Moxley will have splashes of monochromatic tints flowing with waves of color that push toward the future as Fairfax continues to evolve yet builds from the past. The goal for us as muralists is to have our art embrace the community it’s in and bring joy for the people who see it every day and at the same time attract local travelers and tourists from all around to interact.” said Mike Pacheco and Rodrigo Pradel, Muralists.

“I’m so excited to add Michael Pacheco and Rodrigo Pradel’s work to the Fairfax City Public Art Portfolio. You can find their murals all over Northern Virginia including the Boro in Tysons. Their understanding of color and the history of Kamp Washington make this the perfect mural for that spot!” said Megan Dubois, Fairfax City Cultural Arts Manager and Executive Director of Spotlight on the Arts.

“Developed by Fairfield, The Moxley follows our mission to Create Better Living for Better Lives for our residents and the surrounding community,” said Trey Kirby, Vice President of Development. “Public art is a tangible missive we are proud to display, and this brightly colored retrospective by these talented muralists is the perfect fit for our brand-new development to collectively represent the rebirth and continued evolution of Fairfax.”

This mesmerizing mural stands as a shining example of how art can enrich a community, invigorate its cultural landscape, and spark curiosity in those who encounter it. More work from the muralists can be found on Instagram: Mike Pacheco (@pachecostudio) and Rodrigo Pradel (@RodrigoPradel).
