FAIRFAX CITY, VA, JULY 28, 2025 – Fairfax City Economic Development (FCED) is once again investing in the long-term success of its business community through the reopening of the Façade and Interior Improvement Grant (FIIG), a program designed to improve the look, feel, and accessibility of storefronts and interiors citywide. Backed by the Fairfax City Economic Development Authority, the initiative has been renewed to meet growing demand and to continue supporting the vitality and visual appeal of Fairfax City’s commercial corridors.
The FIIG program offers 50% reimbursement of project costs, up to $20,000, for qualifying businesses seeking to invest in permanent improvements to their space. The program is open to both new and existing businesses in Fairfax City, aiming to alleviate the financial burden of implementing quality improvements that enhance the customer experience. Eligible expenditures include—but are not limited to—decorative exterior upgrades, signage, ADA compliance improvements, landscaping connected to the building, murals, and interior demolition or shell reconstruction.
Since its launch, FIIG has supported over 25 businesses in Fairfax City, including Down The Line Sports Center, Commonwealth Brewing Co., Paradise Games and Gifts, and Dolce Vita Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar. To date, Fairfax City Economic Development has invested over $363,000 in the program with a total value of $2.2 million in renovation projects.
